Once we tell you that your order or item has been canceled or refunded, you can rest assured that a refund is issued to your original payment method and it is on it's way back to you. You should then be able to see that in your order status.
Since the refund transaction goes thru various parties, and it can take 1 - 2 weeks for your credit card company to process it. So, it will take some time before you can see it in your credit card account or be able to confirm the refund with your credit card company.
